Osteoma-Histopathology

Description : Histologically, osteomas consist of a cancellous or trabeculated bone, with fibrovascular connective tissue filling the numerous intertrabecular spaces. This histologic appearance contrasts clearly with the dense lamellar cortical bone of exostoses. An osteoma is comprised of cancellous bone which contains numerous fibrovascular channels. The outer surface is covered by a cortex of variable thickness. H&E 14X
