Cartilaginous External Auditory Canal Laceration

Cartilaginous External Auditory Canal Laceration

Description : Minor lacerations are perceived by the patient as pain and a small amount of bleeding, usually noticed on a cotton tipped swab.

If the bleeding persists, a blood clot may form to occlude the ear canal and cause hearing loss.

Attempted syringing by an inexperienced person has caused a rather extensive laceration in the floor of the cartilaginous canal.
